Fallis Balanced Saddles Home

Forward Hung Stirrups: The Fallis Balanced Saddle is designed to hang farther forward than conventional stirrups, to increase the rider's stability and balance. Stirrup flyback is minimized. There is less swing because stirrups placed in a forward position create more friction.

The Fallis Balanced Saddle stirrup leathers can be placed in two alternate positions. Unless otherwise specified, the stirrups on your saddle will be hung in the most forward position - about four inches farther forward than conventional over-the-tree stirrup leathers. The alternate placement is only two inches farther forward than conventionally located stirrups. Please specify rear hanging stirrups if you so prefer.

The stirrup leathers are equipped with quick change buckles - a catch to adjust fender length on the tree and one to adjust stirrup leather length. Both are quick. Of course, either may be used separately. These buckles permit you to adjust your Fallis Balanced Saddle approximately fourteen inches. An average nine-year old can ride one of my saddles quite easily.

Conventional Hung Stirrups

Conventional Hung Stirrups It can easily be proved that a horse carries weight best when it is placed within the vicinity of the circled area indicated in the illustration (left). That area is the horse's true center of gravity. When weight is carried there, the horse does not tire as quickly. Stirrups on most conventional saddles are hung too far back on the seat. Even when the rider stands, he or she connot get within the horse's carrying circle.

Forward Hung Stirrups

Fallis Forward Hung Stirrups On our saddles, stirrups are hung within the carrying circle, where performance horses carry weight most easily with less fatigue.
